Subi.hairdressing was established in 2006 by 23 year old hairdresser Nikki Waugh. What started as a solo venture for Nikki, quickly turned into a busy business. Nikki had identified a niche in the local market for a young, fashion aware salon that focused on the latest fashion styles and colours at an affordable price.
Once established, Nikki’s next vision was for a concept salon where guests could experience hair, beauty and treatments in one place.Expanding into beauty in late 2008 the public response to a concept salon was overwhelming.Guests loved the idea of a salon where they could receive waxing while their colour processed. Once again the business grew, employing 2 hairdressers and a part time beauty therapist.
In November 2009 Subi became an AVEDA hair salon. With 97% plant derived colours and Nikki’s passion for the environment, community involvement and natural alternatives, Aveda was the perfect fit for the new direction the salon was taking. November 2009 also saw the establishment of the subi vegetable and relaxation garden at the back of the salon.
April 2010 saw the expansion of Subi into the world of the Aveda Experiences in hair, skin and body. Based on Holistic approach to beauty and health, Aveda believes that ingredients of plant origin bring out the natural healing power of the human body to maximum effect. Now at Subi you can escape and experience the Aveda brand, from the complimentary rituals to the personal touch you receive from the expert hairdressers.
As of January 2012, the salon, now has 5 fulltime hairdressers who are passionate about providing the best customer service available while working in environmentally focus salon. The salon has also expanded to 6 days a week trading.
In 2012 the store focuses on providing exceptional hairdressing services, Professional Make Up and Aviva Spray Tans. Relax and unwind, and let us take you on a sensory journey….
About Nikki Waugh Originally from Albany WA, Nikki left at 19 and travelled Australia working at high profile resorts and salons including Jagama Aveda Concept Salon, Cable Beach Club. Hayman Island and Pure Escape Aveda Concept Salon on Chapel Street Melbourne. During this time Nikki worked as a Hairdresser and Make Up Artist to many high profile clients including local and international celebrities. At 22 Nikki returned to Perth WA and the following year established Subi Hairdressing in Hay Street Subiaco.
